Living as a wise man in the port city of Orphalese for twelve years, he is finally ready to return home. Those who come to see him off say, "Speak to us one last time, give us some of your wisdom and truth." They ask him about love, marriage, children, laws, freedom, work, pain, and death.
So the Prophet begins to speak with them.
Halil Cibran’s immortal work is adapted for the stage using the storytelling capabilities of the modern meddah tradition.
Through thirty different characters, the Meddah tells the different facets of the human soul. Much like an old box that has been closed for years slowly opening; the human's states, pains, memories, and ethical and moral judgments slowly open and expand.
The Prophet reveals a different voice, a different story, and a different secret in each chapter. Sometimes giving advice, sometimes making a confession, and sometimes asking the questions people have been avoiding for years.
Reaching millions of readers for over a century, the Prophet carries humanity's shared memory to the stage in this interpretation. Merging poetry and theater, storytelling and acting, ERMİŞ invites the audience on a journey that is both ancient and deeply current.
"Though ages change, what resonates in the human heart remains the same. In this city, every box opens a little to remember, a little to understand. For the box inside a person is the only silent witness to the journey they have taken."
