The Offline at Paribu Art – April 30, 2026 (International Jazz Day)
Hamburg-based multi-instrumentalist and producer The Offline (Felix Müller) expands his distinctive sonic universe, blending hip-hop influences with cinematic textures. With his second full-length album La grande évasion, released on DeepMatter Records, he invites listeners into a timeless yet deeply introspective journey.
Originally conceived as a science-fiction-inspired narrative about a spaceship traveling into deep space, the album gradually evolved into something more personal while also expanding in scope. The idea of interstellar travel gave way to themes of memory, place, photography, and inner exploration. The Offline describes this transformation as follows:
“Although the songs carried a sense of journey, they were never rooted in classic sci-fi aesthetics. The core idea was always exploration, crossing boundaries, and building new worlds. I’ve always had a strong connection to the sea, so I wanted to express escape and discovery through that lens.”
The lead single “Boulevard National” pays tribute to Marseille, the city that inspired his 2024 EP Les Cigales. Fusing Anatolian psychedelic textures with West Coast surf influences, the track captures the rhythm and energy of a multicultural city.
Nikonos V stems from his passion for analog photography, named after the underwater film camera he carries on coastal travels. As he explains, the album’s visuals were all captured using this camera, making the track both a memory and an emotion.
More experimental in tone, “Le trip” merges psychedelic jazz-funk with breakbeat elements, while collaborator Kimo Eiserbeck’s improvisational saxophone creates a surreal soundscape. The emotional core of the album is “La belle en lumière”, a warm, melodic ballad built on Rhodes harmonies, flowing grooves, and The Offline’s signature wind arrangements.
The Offline’s artistic journey began while traveling along the Atlantic coast of France with his analog camera, gradually discovering his voice at the intersection of visual and sonic expression. Shaped by earlier works such as En Clair-Obscur and La couleur de la mer, his music now sits at the crossroads of contemporary jazz, hip-hop, and visual art. His work has been featured on platforms such as BBC Radio 6, Jazz FM, Radio FIP, and NTS, earning millions of streams and a strong international presence.
On April 30, 2026, Paribu Art will host The Offline’s cinematic and boundary-defying sound universe in celebration of International Jazz Day.
