Toronto-based duo Kazdoura, of Syrian-Lebanese descent, blends traditional Arabic maqam with psychedelic rock, funk, jazz, and groove. With Leen Hamo’s captivating vocals and Johnny Abou Chacra’s layered instrumentation, they reshape the Middle East’s rich musical heritage into a contemporary reinterpretation.
In songs exploring themes of migration, belonging, nostalgia, and identity, Kazdoura combines the emotional depth of Arabic music with the psychedelic spirit of the 70s and today’s independent aesthetic. The group stands out as one of the most compelling alternative Arabic music projects of recent years, featuring million-stream hits and an award-winning "Khayal" video.
