Kardeş Türküler

For 30 years, Kardeş Türküler has presented the languages and cultures of our region to a wide audience with a pluralistic approach, reinterpreting traditional songs without losing the soul of these lands. Drawing inspiration from traditions and forms belonging to the peoples of Anatolia, Thrace, and Mesopotamia, the group creates new compositions. Guided by the principle of "living together with respect for differences," Kardeş Türküler strives to document and share the cultural/musical tradition shaped in a shared geography from a perspective that goes beyond assimilation. At the same time, they emphasize the importance of not merely uncovering this heritage but re-creating it through new explorations, shaping their work within this understanding.

Since its founding, Kardeş Türküler has enriched its repertoire with songs in Turkish, Kurdish, Azerbaijani, Armenian, Macedonian, Greek, Laz, Georgian, Romani, Circassian, Syriac, and Arabic. By performing music and dances that reflect the cultural diversity of these lands, the group continues to express the hope of living together in brotherhood and plurality.
