Birkan Nasuhoğlu, born in 1987, is a Turkish singer, songwriter and guitarist. He became known as the vocalist and guitarist of Yedinci Ev, a rock band formed in İstanbul in 2011, and reached a wide audience with "Anlat Ona" and "Sevsene Beni" from the band's 2013 debut album "Şimdi". Beginnings and Yedinci Ev
Nasuhoğlu grew up in Mersin and started playing guitar at a course he attended in middle school. His professional career began with Yedinci Ev, a band formed in İstanbul in 2011 and influenced by the British rock tradition. Alongside Nasuhoğlu, the line-up included Hazar Aşçı on bass and Turgay Gülaydın on drums. The debut album "Şimdi", released in August 2013, featured songs such as "Anlat Ona", "Sevsene Beni" and "Birileri Anlatsın Bana", followed by the single "Kalbim Seni Arıyor" in October 2015. Nasuhoğlu wrote band songs including "Anlat Ona", "Sevsene Beni", "Kalbim Seni Arıyor" and "Sarhoşum".
"İçine Düştüm" and the hiatus
Yedinci Ev's second album, "İçine Düştüm", featuring "Sarhoşum" and "Bir Kere Gelir", was released in August 2017. The band went on hiatus in September 2018. During this period Nasuhoğlu released two singles with Elçin Orçun, "Varsa Yoksa" (2017) and "Bi' Fazla" (2018), and in November 2018 he performed solo on the opening night of Babylon's "Yeni Yerli" concert series.
Solo albums
His solo discography began in 2019 with the EP "Yuvaya Yolculuk (Canlı Akustik)", made up of live acoustic versions of Yedinci Ev songs. In the same year he recorded "Hani Dersin Ya Tamam" for Akustikhane Sessions and "Ne Varsa Halimde (Canlı Akustik)" with Dilhan Şeşen. In 2020 he released "Yeni Bir Kan", along with "Yuva (Canlı Akustik)", which collected acoustic covers he had shared on YouTube, and "Gülmedi Kader" with Gökhan Türkmen. "Evde", featuring Can Ozan, Nova Norda and Sedef Sebüktekin, followed in 2021. The seven-track "ne çok şey birikti içimde", released on 11 March 2022, was presented by the artist as his first solo album, with a launch concert at Salon İKSV on 23 April 2022. "Daha İyiyim" joined the list of Birkan Nasuhoğlu albums in 2025.
"Tanrı Türkü Dinliyor" and folk influences
"Tanrı Türkü Dinliyor", released in 2021, was recorded at All Saints Church in Moda. It features versions of Pir Sultan Abdal's "Dostum Dostum" and Aşık Mahzuni Şerif's "İşte Gidiyorum Çeşmi Siyahım" alongside Nasuhoğlu's own "Ben Ahımı Aldım", with Ozan Sarohan on kopuz. Nasuhoğlu says his lyrics draw on Ottoman Divan poetry and on folk poets such as Aşık Veysel, Aşık Mahzuni Şerif and Karacaoğlan, and that he read Divan literature while writing "Gül". "Yollar Bitmez" was the first song for which he wrote the lyrics before the music.
Yedinci Ev's return and recent work
Yedinci Ev reunited in July 2021 and released "Gezegen" and "Kuzum" that year. The band's November 2022 single "Napıyorum Bilmiyorum" entered Spotify's Turkish rock list, followed by "Uzansam Kucağına" in 2025 and "Senden Sonra" in 2026. Nasuhoğlu has continued his solo work, releasing "Tuzak" and "Kuru Rüzgar (Canlı)", featuring Besim Talı, in 2026. Birkan Nasuhoğlu concerts continue both as solo acoustic performances and with Yedinci Ev.
