“Aramızdaki Mesafe” at Paribu Art
Written and performed by Bülent Gültekin and co-directed with Gülhan Kadim, this play explores the collision of two contrasting journeys between an uncle and his nephew who share the same name. Bülent Gültekin discovers traces of his own life in his uncle’s diary, revealing the hidden sides of two seemingly opposite worlds.
On one side is Uncle Bülent, who leaves his village and finds himself caught between religious communities and love in the city. On the other is Actor Bülent, who comes from a religious family but tries to pursue a life in theatre, even reaching the point of considering giving it up. These two narratives, starting from opposite poles, eventually converge at a critical breaking point.
Aramızdaki Mesafe combines different storytelling forms and offers a unique, multilayered experience through a spatial sound design distributed across eight speakers, immersing the audience in a rich auditory landscape.
