Yussef Dayes

Yussef Dayes at Paribu Art on October 24

Yussef Dayes stands out with his extraordinary mastery behind the drums. Raised in South London, this producer, composer, and drummer is recognized as one of the most exciting live performance artists of his generation. Seeing him live offers a thrilling experience where technical mastery, intense energy, and emotion come together. This experience strongly conveys to the audience the role rhythm plays in transmitting spiritual energy.

Last year marked a major leap for Dayes. His first solo studio album, *Black Classical Music*, featured collaborations with names like Masego, Chronixx, Jamilah Barry, and Tom Misch, bringing the artist into the spotlight. Following the album, Dayes won the Ivor Novello Award for Best Album and received two BRIT Award nominations. The album appeared on "Best of" lists from platforms and publications including Spotify, NPR Music, Rough Trade, BBC Radio 6 Music, Boston Globe, PopMatters, AllMusic, Loud and Quiet, Brooklyn Vegan, Treblezine, KCRW, WRTI, and Qobuz. The album also featured on Channel 4 News and was included in over 75 editorial playlists on digital music platforms.

In recent months, Dayes’ concerts at iconic London venues like the Royal Albert Hall, as well as his tours across the UK, USA, Australia, Asia, and Latin America, have sold out completely. Following the *Live at Joshua Tree* EP, the breathtaking live recording *Live From Malibu* was released at the start of 2024 and has garnered over 2.5 million streams. Yussef became the first drummer to perform solo on COLORS in late 2023. This viral performance reached over 3.2 million views in just three weeks. The artist also took the stage on BBC’s *Later with Jools Holland*.

In summer 2024, Yussef Dayes hosted his first festival, Summer Dayes, curated by himself, in the heart of his hometown in South East London.

Let's meet at Paribu Art on October 24.
