John Scofield Combo 75 at Paribu Art on February 27
John Scofield, one of modern jazz guitar's most original and influential names, celebrates his 75th year with a special project spanning different eras of his music. This three-time Grammy-winning guitarist has consistently redefined the boundaries of jazz with a unique guitar language that ranges from bebop to blues, from jazz-funk to groove-oriented contemporary approaches.
Scofield reshapes the group he previously assembled as Combo 66, now calling it Combo 75, returning to both his new compositions and selected pieces from his repertoire. The project centers on the years-spanning musical bond and on-stage improvisational chemistry of four powerful musicians from different generations.
John Scofield is joined by Gerald Clayton on piano, Bill Stewart on drums, and Vicente Archer on double bass. Alongside Bill Stewart, who shares a long musical history with Scofield, Gerald Clayton—six-time Grammy nominee—and Vicente Archer, a standout bassist in the contemporary jazz scene, complete Combo 75's dynamic and multi-layered sonic world.
John Scofield has shared stages and studios with jazz history icons like Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny, Joe Lovano, Ron Carter, and Brad Mehldau. With Combo 75, he brings a special performance to the stage that bridges the past and the present, built on improvisation, groove, and powerful musical dialogue.
