Istanbul's new trio for improvisation and free jazz: Usta, Olgun, Ekincioğlu. The trio combines rhythm, timbre, melody, and spontaneous forms to bring order out of chaos. The essence of Usta, Ali Onur Olgun, and Esat Ekincioğlu, meet Istanbul audiences at Paribu Art ahead of their concerts at the prestigious Dutch festival Le Guess Who?.
Drummer and percussionist Özün Usta blends Anatolian rhythmic traditions with the intuitive structure of Afro-American avant-garde jazz. Every beat creates a sense of depth rooted in time and space. Saxophonist Ali Onur Olgun expands the boundaries of sound with his instinctive improvisation, traveling between raw tones, ritual textures, and spontaneous forms. Esat Ekincioğlu adds a new dimension to the music by exploring the microtones, hums, and hidden vibrations of the double bass.
The trio creates a dynamic that lives out every possibility of a single moment on stage — an experience where improvisation, intuition, and sensory intensity meet, shaping itself alongside the listener. Every performance is a new experiment, a new story, a new birth.
