GingerBlackGinger at Paribu Art on March 15
Founded by Belgian double bassist Yannick Peeters, GingerBlackGinger is an international collective blending jazz, rock, and improvisation. The project is built on compositions that leave room for musicians' interpretations and improvisations; therefore, every performance has a live and fluid structure.
The group will be joined by a major name for this concert: American alto saxophonist Tim Berne. Having worked with musicians like Paul Motian, Bill Frisell, and Joey Baron, Berne is regarded as one of the leading figures in the improvisation scene. For Peeters, Berne’s participation adds a new dimension to the music. In particular, the sound created by Berne and Frans Van Isacker on two alto saxophones will be a standout feature of the concert.
GingerBlackGinger creates a musical language that combines hardness with lyricism, and intense energy with fragile moments. Peeters aims to build a framework where every musician's personality and musical instinct can be heard. Consequently, the group offers a concert experience that moves forward through immediate interaction rather than a fixed formula.
