Uninvited Jazz Band

An international music group performing New Orleans jazz and blues music from the 1920s and 1930s. Founded in 2012, the group brings together musicians from Turkey, the Czech Republic, the USA, France, and the UK. With high-energy performances that revive the enthusiastic spirit of the era, the group stands out as one of Istanbul's most entertaining jazz & swing orchestras. Strongly connected to swing dance communities in Turkey, Uninvited Jazz Band delivers unforgettable moments to dance lovers with a wide repertoire ranging from Lindy Hop to Balboa. 

Swing Planet Dance Show

Swing Planet is a dance studio and community based in Istanbul. They teach, preserve, and share Afro-American dances from the Swing era—the golden age of jazz music: Lindy Hop, Solo Jazz, Balboa, and Shag. Their goal is to bring this rich cultural heritage to today's dance floors while preserving its authentic spirit.

Depending on the style, swing dancing can be performed with a partner or solo. It emerged between 1930 and 1960 and attracts attention for adopting a unique style during the swing era, when jazz music reached its peak. The rhythm, which sometimes speeds up and sometimes slows down, makes swing an incredibly fun dance. We can say it is the world's most energetic and joyful dance. Among swing era dances, Lindy Hop is the most well-known, followed by Charleston, Balboa, and Shag. Solo Jazz stands out for being performed entirely solo, incorporating Charleston and traditional jazz steps. This style has evolved over the years into various choreographies and occasionally feeds partner dancing as well. Solo Jazz, which is now one of the most common swing styles, has found its place in the indispensable performances of parties.
