Çelik was born on May 12, 1966, in Istanbul. His father is of Albanian descent, and his mother is from Ayancık, Sinop. After attending school in Istanbul through high school, Çelik was admitted to the Finance Department of Anadolu University but did not continue his studies.
Secretly taking the conservatory entrance exams and passing, Çelik enrolled in the Basic Sciences Department of the ITU State Conservatory of Turkish Music.
Choosing the double bass, Çelik's musical career rose quickly after the conservatory. To support his family, Çelik Erişçi worked at various locations for a time before later starting to perform on stage with İzel Çeliköz.
