Aja Monet

Aja Monet is an artist who carries poetry and music together. In 2023, she released her first poetry album, when the poems do what they do, under the Drink Sum Wtr label. The album was nominated for Best Spoken Word Album at the 66th Grammy Awards in 2024.

Her second album, the color of rain, was recorded with a wide cast including Ambrose Akinmusire and Nico Segal, led by music director Meshell Ndegeocello and drummer Justin Brown. The album blends jazz, soul, hip-hop, and R&B with poetry, exploring memory, responsibility, and today's political realities.
